Frequently asked questions
Does Atlas change Parts or models?
No. Atlas builds smooth Terrain and water. Roads, structures, vegetation, and landmarks remain separate Studio work.
Does Preview resolution control build quality?
No. It controls only interactive graph previews. Builds always sample at the 4-stud terrain voxel grid.
Where are maps saved?
Inside the place under ServerStorage.AtlasStudioProjects. Save or publish the place to preserve them.
Are maps shared by every place in an experience?
No. Transfer the project folder to each place that needs it.
Can I keep existing Terrain when I build?
No. Build Terrain clears the entire Terrain container first. Back it up or use a separate place.
Can I use one field as a height and a mask?
Yes. Both are Heightfield values. A branch can feed terrain shaping and a Range, Threshold, or Blend mask at the same time.
Why does changing Maximum height alter my Slope mask?
Slope in Degrees uses real rise over run. Maximum height changes rise, while Width and Depth change run.
Do duplicated maps share masks?
No. Atlas deep-copies mask buffers so edits remain independent.
Can I add the Output or Stored Heightmap node?
No. They are hidden compatibility nodes. Build Map is seeded into current project graphs; use ordinary palette nodes for new sources.
